AN APPEAL TO STRENGTHEN THE MOVEMENT FOR OROP
Dear Friends
1. More than a month has passed since the All Party Standing Committee on Defence through its Chariman Shri Satpaljee Maharaj congress M.P had tabled its report in the Parliament on 07 May 2010. The Committee had recommended the grant of OROP to Defence Personnel in holistic manner. The Govt has to decide on the recommendations of the Committee. There is an urgent need to bring to bear maximum public opinion in favour of our cause on the Govt through a sustained media campaign, organizing meetings, rallies, seminars, writing articles, depositing of medals, signing memorandum to the President in Blood to express our deep anguish.
2. Friends, in the next event being organized at Jantar-Mantar New Delhi shortly, we plan to deposit maximum medals and sign the Memorandum to the President in Blood. Our Chairman Gen Raj Kadyan has already written to the President to give us the date when she will be present to receive our medals and the Blood signed memorandum. This is the time when all ESM across the country must unite and endeavour to collect maximum medals and sign memorandum in blood for depositing with the President.
3. It is heartening to know that ESM of Punjab have resolved to collect one lac signatures in Blood. This was the solemn resolve of veterans on 11 Jun 2010 at Patiala after the “Antim Aradas” in the respectful memory of Late Col PIS Phoolka who had been spearheading the OROP Movement in Punjab. We appeal to all veterans across the country to collect maximum medals and sign memorandum in blood. Representatives at the level of Block, Tehsil, City, District, and State are requested to organize the collection. These can be sent at IESM Headquarters at 543 Sector 23 Gurgaon (Hr) Pin -122017 or brought by representatives at Jantar Mantar on the day of the event which will be announced shortly.
4. Maximum publicity be given to the forthcoming event. Leaflets in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Specimen Signatures of Blood Memorandum are enclosed for maximum circulation. Leaflets can be translated in other local languages and distributed.
5. Every one of the 2.4 million ESM wants OROP. So, let us join together to express our solidarity for the cause of Defence Forces to get our due Justice.
